Which California boys team has the smallest five-man spread?
Right now, that's Point Loma of San Diego.
The squad's spread between its one-through-five is just 12 seconds. Rio Mesa has a 17-second spread, while Loyola's compression is 19.10.
Of course, Loyola's average is the best of them all at 15:40.58. Great Oak's spread is 20 seconds -- fifth-best in California, but their average of 15:39.74 is even better than Loyola's.
So the verdict is: A minimal spread is nice, but average is king.
